{the new grease}

well, yesterday i went to seven peaks and my bathing suit was ruined by the chlorine. needless to say, they heard from me today and i do expect some kind of something out of it.

so today, i was expecting kinda a ho-hum day. but instead, here's what i got:

babysitting my favorite little girls and doing fun crafts with them.
winning a fun doorprize on your heart out.
seeing hairspray with this same adorable family and my mom and brother.
buying hairspray soundtrack.

did you know that i love that movie. i will for sure be seeing it again. and probably dragging a million people with me to see it. all because it was so darn cute! my day was very fun and exciting.

the best part of the seeing the movie was easton's face throughout the whole movie. yes, we dragged easton along. it was so funny that lesa pulled out her camera and took about 5 pictures throughout the movie. i'm sure the people around us were annoyed. but it's ok.

go see it!

{i'm back for a sec}

i'm sorry i haven't posted anything. well here's why. i'm reading the 7th harry potter book and cannot put it down. i'm almost done though.

this last week was my last week of dance summer intensive. now i have 3 weeks off before i start the school year again. it's crazy how fast summer has gone by! my brothers started some training at uop too. they were jumping of the water ramps. it was fun to watch! i think this is one of my brothers.. hard to tell sometimes. anyways- that's just the little ramp! =:O

i went to the midnight party at the byu bookstore. it was so fun! i brought nic with me. i dressed up! i was luna lovegood. i got so many comments and had so many people take their picture with me... it was kinda weird actually. oh well. they must have heard about the nargles.

oh my. i don't know why anytime i put a sideways picture on blogger it pixelates like that.. hmm... any help anyone? well that picture was taken at about 12:45 am on our way back to the car. look at the rest of the pictures here. it was a fun night. my dad opened the to the last page of the book when we walked past the line that was out the door waiting to get a book :O and pretended he was reading that last couple pages. it was hilarious. good times cruising university parkway looking for food at 1 in the morning too. and apparently i talk in my sleep on the way home from this excursion. oh well. it was fun!

i really need a name for my blog! help!

{eat a banana!}

well.... superman sent me a text message that was actually two pages long and this is what it said...

"k. i just got the weirdest email. it said that bananas can help you when you're pmsing and also help cure a hang over. you should consider eating bananas more often. just kidding. but seriously. consider it"

i laughed for about an hour and almost peed my pants. but that's a different story.....

{oh my}

"Deep in the Grand Canyon lies a place of unmatched beauty; a place where blue-green water cascades over fern-clad cliffs into travertine pools, where great blue heron skim canyon streams, and where giant cottonwood and graceful willows thrive in the shade of majestic sandstone cliffs. This is Havasu Canyon, home to the Havasupai—“the people of the blue-green waters.” Havasu Canyon is a paradise enveloped in one of earth’s most rugged and remote landscapes. The village of Supai has the only post office in the US where the mail is still carried by mule train. "

that's what the website says about the place i'm going. i'm so pumped! this is our ward youth conference this year. it's going to be so awesome! i can't even begin to tell you how excited i am! i will also tell you that i'm nervous, but the excited feeling is taking of the nervousness.

tomorrow night is bag check. an adult will stand and check everything in our bags. then we will leave our bags, ready to go, at the church. tuesday night at 5pm, the bus is pulling out of the church parking lot and we begin our adventure. no stops. 12 hours. most likely no sleep (except for those of us that will be drugged haha). then at 5am wednesday morning, we will hike 10 miles to our campsite, and set up camp.

i'm so excited that we have such an amazing opportunity to go perform acts of service for the havasu tribe, and the branch that is down there. we're building a shed, 2 fences, planting 40 or so trees, and bringing a fax machine for the missionaries.

i can't wait to bring back my own amazing pictures to brag about (then i wont have to just show you these that i got off the wedsite!)! see you in about a week! wish me luck!

{ dumb hole in the ground! }

Well. I know this happened a long time ago. I just thought I would discuss it now. I title this place- MOST BORING PLACE EVER. Just to let you know. Kennecott Copper Mines. The name just sounds boring!

We get to the place and pay to drive to the visitors center. In the visitors center we learn the extreme importance of copper and what a difference it makes in our lives. Super boring. Then we get to watch this movie of them advertising how environmentally friendly they are. The best part of the movie was a giant explosion that happened. It was sweet. Then we walked outside and looked down this huge hole. So then that was the end. Don't go ever. Kennecott. That's what it's called.

So there's my new post. I had it saved as a draft from about two months ago. I know that I put so much effort into my blog....

{ next year, when i'm older }

Thanks everyone (or the two of you) for commenting on my flower. I've decided along with being a photographer when I'm older (which is coming too fast!) I've also decided to do a couple other things. Haha

Here we go:

A vintage/retro/amazing dresser (I call this my find of the week!) The stake dance was a Decades theme so I went as the 70's. I knew everyone else would do something easy- 80's 50's stuff you can pull out of your closet. I needed something to wow the crowd and I did.

A cake decorator. I know it's amazing. I must be feeling hippie-ish this week! I went with a peace cake. For mutual the mom's and daughters each decorated a cake and learned some new cake decorating tips! I know...amazing!

An Ice Cream Truck Driver! Hahahaha JUST KIDDING!! This is 'Dad's Ice Cream' that came into our neighborhood. I would just eat the ice cream not sell it!

The photographer for the starburst commercials haha :D

I'm going to be a politician... yeah right! But I will get to vote next election (SCARY!). I've been reading up on the people running for President. This is who I find to be most qualified for the job right now. More later on my status regarding who I'm for.

Mother's Day and Sacrament Talks

Well today is Mother's Day. So I want to say a few things about my mom-

She is amazing. She is so loving and kind and patient with me. She helps me to have a greater love for the gospel and teaches me by example that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me. She always looks at the positive things in any situation and is always encouraging me to be outgoing and make new friends. I love her so much. I don't know what I would do without her. She helps me with everything. I know she's always going to be there for me to help me. She is such a great example of how to live a righteous life. I love seeing her dive into the scriptures daily and take her calling so seriously. She really gives it her all.

Next, I would like to talk about church today. We had a really good sacrament meeting. Nic was the YM speaker today and I loved his talk. So I thought I would recap it- in a nutshell to the best of my ability at least.

His topic was education and he talked about how much his mom has taught him. Then he called other youth from the ward and asked them what their moms have taught them. It was very sweet how he talked about his mom.

So there's my shout out to my mom. Thanks for everything you do for me.

Gotta Have 'Em!

There are some things in life that you just crave depending on how your day is going. Today... It was skittles. The fruity little M&M look-a-likes. Usually I've got to have some chocolate to get me through my day. Skittles bring a burst of flavor and excitement and energy into your life.
Taste the Rainbow.
What's your craving?

A Good Laugh

A Documentary About Mormon History

So some lady makes a documentary about Mormons and PBS shows it. You can watch it here if you missed it on T.V. My seminary teacher encouraged us all to watch it if our testimonies are strong because it does have some different views in it I guess...

Watch it (it's 4 hours long! Yikes!) I'm watching it now. I'm sure I'll have something to say about it after I'm done. We're supposed to come with views and opinions and questions to seminary. We'll see how that goes...

Beautiful Weather

I'm loving the weather we are having. It's perfect. In the high 60's low 70's everyday all day with a little breeze. Who doesn't love this? Oh that's right... the ski bums...

Well... There's not much to say. Dance is going excellent. And Seminary is 100% attendance as usual. School.... it's coming.

I really wish I could just go be outside all day. But I have to stay away from the sun until after the performance or Jan will kill me. Not even kidding. I came back from Powell with a horrible tan line and she flipped! Whoops.

Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Spring/Summer!!!

:D

That's Selfish

On Sunday we had a really great fireside. Two brothers that both play football for BYU and are both returned missionaries spoke to us. They had so many things that I found really great that I can apply to my life. I hope all the youth were listening because they taught us some great lessons.

One of them talked about how they were good people and made the right choices when it came to the big decisions like drinking or smoking e.t.c. when they were teenagers. He pointed out that it's good to know the church is true....it's better to live the true church. It's the small things- reading your scriptures daily, saying personal prayers, paying attention in seminary and Sunday school. Take it seriously- you'll grow if you do. He said a quote that I'm not sure where it came from, "As tiny drops of water shape out landscape; minute by minute choices we make shape our character." What kind of a character do I want for myself? I've been thinking about this constantly now.

Don't think about yourself. That's what both of them kept saying. They said that when you go on a mission everything stops being about you. Both wished they had stopped thinking all about themselves before their missions to prepare themselves. You have to think about the Lord's plan, not yourself.

One brother was getting into football and was excelling a lot. He approached his RM brother and his wife one night and said that he was not going on a mission. He wanted to stay and continue with football. His brother told him he was selfish. It's not always supposed to be about you. Focus on others.

You have to make the right choices for you. You have to decide for yourself to make the right choices.

So then yesterday while I was studying my scriptures I was reading in D&C 4. And right next to the section beginning I have written, "What does it take to be a servant of the Lord?" Everyone always relates this section to missions and missionaries, but I related it to me...now.
*see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
*if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work
*faith, hope, charity, and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work
*remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence
*ask, and ye shall receive; knock and it shall be opened unto you

There are so many things that apply to me now. We should apply these scriptures to our callings, our roles in our families, and just our daily lives.

OK Go!

Well... My little brother's school is doing a talent show. They and their friends want to do this. I volunteered myself (of course!) to help put it together. Now I'm stuck. Where on earth am I going to get 8 treadmills?!?!

I decided that I could get away with 6. But still... 6 treadmills?!? And look at these guys. They do it in one shot. There's no editing or stopping or anything going on with their video. How am I going to teach four 10 year olds to do this? I'm sure these guys practiced for months and months and had to tape it a million times to just get it right.

My dad is convinced that the treadmill dance will never happen. He thinks I should do this instead. This one just isn't as exciting though! And the treadmill one is just a crowd "wower". If that's even a word. You get what I mean though...

If you have any suggestions.. Please help!!

And Happy Friday the 13th by the way!!!

This is my look-alike. All girls (except for Sam Neill... Whoever the heck he is!). I may look like girls... but you should notice my hair. That's probably why. You're probably wondering why my hair was long. Style. I had to look good out on the waves.

Here's what Easton had to say:

Why do I look like Jesse McCartney?!? You know him live at Disneyland once? It was sweet. And Lost? I'm not lost! Why do I look like him in his Lost style. I wish he was Lord of the Ring's style. That's who I look like. He should shave.

The 5 Days of Lake Powell

We just got back from a very exciting trip to beautiful Lake Powell. Three families, one house boat, two speed boats, and too much cereal.

On the 1st day of Lake Powell there was...

Loading the boat up with all our junk to get on the house boat...as quickly as possible. We did manage it in one trip (lucky us!). We settled in and unpacked everything! A few people were anxious to get out on the water and went water skiing and wake boarding. I wasn't quite ready for that yet....

On the 2nd day of Lake Powell there was.....

Glassy water. Perfect for water skiing! Did I want to learn now? Nope. We also took a hike farther down on the beach we were staying on. This is when Nixon decided to go cliff jumping and broke his arm. Poor thing! Second day and a broken arm.

That's the scene of the accident. Pretty depressing. I love how my mom took a picture of it though! Later on, while they left to go to the doctor's office, three of the many boys took a tube ride. It was intense! Did I want to get in the water though... Nope. I just took some pictures and went along for the boat ride. The three boys on the tube seemed to have fun catching a lot of air though!

This is the air.

This is the landing.
They ended up all tangled and upside down.
It was hilarious.

On the 3rd day of Lake Powell.......

We boated to another part of the lake and hiked to some Indian ruins. It was pretty hot outside and by the end of the journey, even I was ready to get in the cool refreshing lake. I don't know how we didn't end up with any pictures of the actual ruins, but this was my family when we got to the top. It was fun... and hot!

Also, I got in the tube. Complete with a dry suit because I didn't want to get wet. Dry suits are amazing. That's all I have to say. Then I got off my first ride in the tube and decided I didn't get very wet so I didn't need the dry suit to go tubing after all.

Then we went to another beach (that had some more shallow water so it was warmer!) and played in the water and the sand.

On the 4th day of Lake Powell.....

I attempted to wake board (with the nice purple dry suit. Thanks Nic for letting me use your dry suit which is actually a girl's dry suit... but we won't go into that) . After a frustrating 20 (according to Nic. I think it was really only like 8 or so...) tries of trying to get up and stay up, I finally got up and stayed up for a short while. It was so fun. And tiring!! Talk about muscles dancers don't use! In all the pictures I look very angry. But I was really just concentrating really hard to not fall. This is what most of my tries ended up looking like though....

On the 5th (and final) day of Lake Powell.......

There are no other pictures to put. But... I went wake boarding again (even though I woke up and could barely move my body!) and got up every time and was able to stay up! I also had some interesting falls too. My favorite fall was the day before, and we have it on video!

We also went tubing one last time. This time, for the first time in the history of the tube we were using, it flipped. Easton, Wade, and Kip all got catapulted from the tube!

We also had to make stops to the poop dock (I didn't go on this little adventure) and the gas station, and we cleaned the whole boat. Said our thank yous and goodbyes and were on our way home.

It was such a fun vacation with 2 other really great families like mine!

Some details that happened everyday....

  • We played lots of card games. But especially Nic and I. We played a lot of speed. He only beat me twice though.. and is pretty bitter about it. And also very determined to beat me again, until he can beat me at least twice in a row. We're going to be playing cards for a long time!
  • Between the 3 families... we probably had around 20 boxes of cereal, lots of bagels, and too much food in general. That's ok though.. better safe than sorry!
  • We slept under the stars on the top of the house boat. This is when I learned that my dad snores A LOT! And that I don't do well sleeping in a space with a lot of other people.
  • We got to know the other families really well and made some friendships that will last for a long time. If the people I spent these 5 days with can still talk to me after seeing me with messy hair, no make-up, and totally myself, then I have some pretty great friends.
  • Somehow I adopted some more little brothers. And two little sisters (finally!). We all had fun.. and it's sort of like we're all family now.

Question...

Well. I have a question. I was re-organizing under the computer desk today (I seem to have a habit of organizing things) and noticed that the one thing that seemed to have so many cords that I couldn't figure out what they were was the wireless Internet stuff! I mean take a look at it!!

It has the box with the antennas on it, with a phone line connected to the computer, and it has a power cord (I understand this one!), but it also has another phone line running from it to this little white box thing, which has another phone line running out the other side that connects to the wall. But this little white box thing has this random green cord just sticking out of it. And this also has a power cord! This I do not understand. I thought the point of wireless Internet meant less wires (I know it really means that you don't dial-up.. but really... lets just add more wires!) I think that my dad's best friend might be able to explain it to me. But then again he can't seem to get the stupid new ipod shuffles to work for my brothers...

I'm no computer genius or anything, but I think that if I had an education in technology, I would make this as little of cords and wires as possible. But that's just me...

Cast Off!!!!

No... We're not casting off on a cruise, although we all would love that. Instead we have a cast that has been removed. Yes. Easton's cast is gone. Finally!

This means 2 things. He can stop taking baths and holding his arm out of the tub in a trash bag. And he can play in his last hockey game! Both exciting things!

Nixon would like to point out that these things can only happen if he doesn't break his arm again. It does just seem like he was getting the cast before this one off. Funny how little boys do things to break their arms.

This also means that our spring break trip to a lake will not be ruined (I'm trying not to be so obvious to stalkers.)!

Ha! I Beat Her to It!

So today the weather was supposed to be rainy and then snowy later tonight. This afternoon it hailed. The joke of the night between my friends and I on Saturday was "golf ball sized hail" in the game Apples to Apples. It was a in the moment kind of a thing. So today when the hail started pounding on the roof. I exclaimed, "Mom! There's GOLF BALL SIZED HAIL OUTSIDE!". She pointed out that it was not in fact golf ball sized hail, but mere light hail. Whatever.

The point I'm trying to make is that she then went to take a picture of my "golf ball sized hail" and told me she was going to blog about it and make fun of me. So I decided to beat her to it, and poke fun at myself, therefore ruining her dreams of the blog where she makes fun of me. This is the picture of the hail. With a quarter next to it, so you can see how small it actually is.

Ok... I get it... Not golf ball sized but pretty large I think. Now my mom can't ruin me and my dad in less than 2 days. Ha! I beat her to it. Now she can't make fun of me!

The Trip to California

My mom can tell you about her part of the trip. Notice how I'm not mentioned in her post at all... EVER? That would be because I was there for Friday, Saturday, and I flew home VERY early Sunday morning for the audition. There are only a few pictures of me. They are all of me at the LDS Spring Formal (SO fun! Even though I ended up with a hurt ankle for my audition the next day.... The best part was seeing my best friend!).

I did so much more that just go to this dance though! On Friday my mom had this great idea to get up at 4.... in the MORNING! Right.... NO. We finally got out the door around 7a.m. We drove and drove and drove and drove some more. Being a teenager with a licence to drive I was SOO excited to be able to help out on these loooong trips. So I quietly (well not so quietly as I kept asking...) waited for my turn to drive through the complete desert and nothing-ness. Did I get to drive at all? No. I did manage to read some books though.

Friday night we finally get to California! We had stopped at In'N'Out in Vegas (YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!!!). We saw the stake musical (which I would've been in. It was weird to see it from the audience!). In the morning, after staying up late and talking until around midnight and then being told to go to bed because it was "grown-up talk" time, my mom and I ran about picking up little boys and their friends and dropping them off and getting our nails done by the Vietnamese ladies that we miss! Then I got ready at my best friends house and spent the evening with an ice pack and a wrap around my ankle at the dance. They kept bringing me the delicious strawberry crepes! I became the judge of which leader could make it the best. It was fun!

The trip was short. Really short. But so exciting. I'm glad I went. Even if it seemed like I was there for only a couple hours. Thank you so much Scott!!! I had an amazing time! And loved seeing my best friends! Sorry that I was a downer and sat outside. It was still fun. Hope to hear from you soon!

My Day Today

Well. I decided I would let my mom take her silly camera and use the computer ALL morning so that she could put the pictures of her trip to California up. So really I didn't get any school work done. This is what I did instead......

#1. I made a cake. This is a very delicious cake that I enjoy making. Yummy oreo cake. It's probably really not what a dancer should be eating too much of (we are getting a nutrition talk tonight from our dance teachers. It's going to be on foods to eat and foods not to eat. Yippie!) but I find it delicious. So oh well. I believe everything in moderation is fine.

#2. I cleaned the pantry. I really enjoy organizing and cleaning things (I probably shouldn't be saying this out in the open. Now I'm sure that many people will be asking me to come clean for them. But it's ok because I would do it!). I didn't have anything else to do. Well I guess that's a lie because I really probably had so many other things I could've done. I chose to do this instead. It really sounded exciting. Now in a week or so, all my organizing and work will have gone to waste and it will be a mess again. That's alright. I need something to do with my time don't I?

Too Much Time!

I think that we all have too much time on our hands to sit on the computer and make silly things like blogs. But as my parents have set the example.....

I figured people need to hear the real story. You get both my parents opinions. But what about mine?!? So that is really how this blog came about.

But first to catch you up on my life. I love Park City. It's an awesome place! So many things to do. Somehow I find I have too little time to spend doing them. It's alright though. I learned to ski this past year. It's very fun even though I still find myself on the "Easiest Path" routes down the mountain. That's ok though. I wouldn't want to get injured!! I would put a picture of me skiing right here to prove to you that I actually did it (many didn't believe I would get around to it. I was scared at first!). Funny enough though. I don't have any pictures. My mom is failing in her new found love for photography. So I put this one in. This is Park City Mountain Resort where we ski. It's beautiful. I know. :D

Next-Dance. It's my favorite. I eat, drink, sleep, and live dance! Ballet West is the professional company out here. They are actually very good. Yesterday, I went and auditioned for the company! I didn't get my resume taken, or asked to come back (they know me though so that's ok). They just got a new Artistic Director of the company. All of the current dancers were guaranteed contracts through the new director. None of them left, so there were only 2 open positions in Ballet West II (which is an apprenticeship). Since I'm so young and still in school, they said to come back next year. Which I understand. I am completely fine with that.

Lately-My parents blogs. It was funny. I was there for the whole thing. My dad thought my mom was silly for making a blog and tried to post a comment. He found out he had to make a whole account to just leave a comment! It took him so long, that I finally ended up going to bed. I like my mom's blog. She tells her funny stories and is keeping in touch with her good friends. I also like my dad's blog. He makes me laugh. I need that. Laughing is good. It keeps you healthy! So there's goodness in both blogs.

Well there you have it. I'm pretty updated I think. Hope you enjoy. And I'm still getting my school work done. Oh yea! That's the other thing. I started doing all my schooling online through BYU Independent Studies. It's great! That's why I'm home. I've finished a 58 page lesson in History in 2 days! So my parents can't be mad. I'm getting it done!!
